Under Pressure: Parenting in an Age of Anxiety

Rippowam Cisqua School’s Foundations of Education Series welcomes Dr. Lisa Damour on Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. Her presentation is entitled Under Pressure: Parenting in an Age of Anxiety. This event is open to the public. RSVP today.

Is your child feeling anxious? Are you concerned about how they are dealing with stress?

Studies confirm that anxiety in young adults and teens is on the rise. Girls in particular often feel nervous, worried, or fearful. On Thursday, October 18, New York Times bestselling author and clinical psychologist Dr. Lisa Damour will discuss:

  • The forces behind the rise of stress and anxiety in young people
  • The difference between healthy and unhealthy stress and anxiety
  • How adults can help children and teenagers navigate the pressures they face

Dr. Damour graduated with honors from Yale University and worked for the Yale Child Study Center before earning her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Michigan. She has been a fellow at Yale’s Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy and the University of Michigan’s Power Foundation. Her recent New York Times bestseller, Untangled: Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood is currently being produced as a docuseries. Her forthcoming book, Under Pressure: Confronting the Epidemic of Stress and Anxiety in Girls, publishes in February 2019.

Join us for this interactive conversation on Thursday, October 18 to learn how to help your children alleviate pressure and avoid emotional overload.
